It was a beautiful, sunny day on June 19, 2022. Chidi’s former company, Twitter, was hosting a Juneteenth celebration mixer at a lively sports bar in downtown Oakland. By chance—or perhaps destiny—Sesen found her way there through an invitation from a friend.

The atmosphere buzzed with energy as guests laughed, mingled, and enjoyed good food and drinks. Chidi, ever the charismatic host, was making his rounds, connecting with everyone. Midway through, a coworker pulled him into a conversation and introduced him to Sesen. When Chidi looked up and saw her for the first time, it was as if time stood still. A rush of chills coursed through his body. In that moment, he thought, “She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.” But he composed himself, determined to play it cool and not reveal too much too soon.

For Sesen, meeting Chidi was equally unforgettable. Amidst the lively crowd and overwhelming introductions, his warm smile and kind eyes felt like a breath of fresh air. His presence instantly put her at ease, and she found herself drawn to his gentle yet confident demeanor.

 

After a brief but impactful conversation, Chidi knew he couldn’t let this moment pass. He asked Sesen out, and soon after, they had their first date—a fun and casual evening in San Francisco filled with great food, random moments (inside joke), and effortless connection. What began as a chance encounter quickly blossomed into something extraordinary.

As they spent more time together, their love grew deeper and their bond stronger. Chidi, ever intentional, recognized the beauty and potential of their partnership early on. He pursued Sesen with unwavering purpose, while she met his energy with openness and grace. In one and a half years, they built a life filled with love, mutual respect, and unwavering support. They traveled the world, leaned on each other through life’s challenges, and welcomed each other’s families and friends with open arms.

Through it all, they saw God’s hand in their union, guiding and blessing every step of their journey. This love story, built on a foundation of faith and intentionality, led to a life-changing moment on December 23rd, 2023.
